#5 Deburred Edge Conditioning

A deburred piece of metal is one where the burr, or raised edge is removed. Deburring steel to a #5 deburred edge is the finishing process that metal goes through to eliminate ragged edges to be then used as a finished product.

Deburred edge conditioning uses a series of roller dies to prepare a specific configuration on the edge of a strip of steel. There are several different Standard AISI types of edges.

Deburring is necessary, many times, to finish a piece of metal before it is sent to market.
